History

Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College (TTRAC) was formerly known as Sulu National Regional Agricultural School (SNRAS), situated at Tarawakan, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi with the total land area of more than 1,000 hectares. SNRAS that time was only an extension high school of Lapak Agricultural College (LAC) which was the oldest agricultural school in Western Mindanao, founded in 1961 through Omnibus Act No. 13 On July 11, 1963, SNRAS was no longer an extension campus of Lapak Agricultural College, but instead, it was established as an independent school headed by a School Administrator and Supervised by the Department of Education Culture and Sports. The first school administrator was Hadji IDILIS A. JULJANI, who eventually became the first college president when TTRAC was converted into State College by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 384. SNRAS was renamed to Tawi-Tawi National Regional Agricultural School (TTNRAS) on September 22, 1973, when Tawi-Tawi as one of the municipalities in Sulu II, separated from sulu province, by virtue of Presidential Decree 302, creating the province of Tawi-Tawi TTNRAS transferred from its former site to Bongao Municipalities in June 1975 due to peace and order situation and its operation continued at Tawi-Tawi Pilot Opportunity School of Fisheries (TTPOSF) in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. In June 1976, TTNRAS transferred again to Barangay Tubig Mampallam, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi and finally transferred to its present site in Barangay, Nalil, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in June 1979. The school buildings constructed at Barangay Tubig Mampallam were all donated to the Lamion Elementary School. In 1983, the former Tawi-Tawi National Regional Agricultural School (TTNRAS) was converted into Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College (TRAC) by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 384. In its Charter, the college aims to provide professional, technical and special training and promote Research Extension Services, and progressive leadership in field of Agriculture and Home Technology. The first president was Hadji Idilis A. Juljani who was then the former school administrator of the Tawi-Tawi National Regional Agricultural School. In its college charter the curricular offerings are the BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURE (BSA), MAJOR IN CROP AND ANIMAL SCIENCES, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION (BSAGED) BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN HOME TECHNOLOGY (BSHT) TWO-YEAR ASSOCIATE IN AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY (AAT), AND COMPLETE FOUR-YEAR SECONDARY VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN AGRICULTURE IN THE GRADUATE LEVEL, the college was authorized to offer Master of Science in Agriculture (MSA), Master of Science in Agricultural Management (MSAg.Mgt) and Master of Science in Agricultural Education (MSAg.Ed) in 1992, during the administration of the second president, Dr. Sabdani J. Hadjirul, the two-year course, Associate in Computer Technology (ACT), was offered and in 1997, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering were offered in 2002, during the administration of Dr. Halid B. Abdurahman as the Third President, the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business (BSAB) was offered. At present, the college has a total of 27 non-teaching employees or supporting staff and 147 teaching personnel. The latter was increased Tremendously because of the 63 plantilla items which was recently awarded by Dr. Mutti A. Asaali, the fifth college president. In its college charter, the Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College is mandated to perform four (4) thrusts, namely, instruction, research extension services, and production. Effective first semester, school year 2018-2019, additional courses and majors are offered and these are; the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Bio-System and Engineering, Economics, Soils Science, Criminology, Hotel, Restaurant and Resort Management, Information Technology, and Information System.

Vision

The college is envisioned to become the center of excellence in the field of agriculture and allied disciplines in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or in a Bangsa Moro Community.

Mission

The aim of the college shall be to provide professional, technical and special training and promote research, extension services, and progressive leadership in the field of agriculture, home technology, allied disciplines, and technology education.

Mandates

The college is mandated to perform effectively and efficiently the four-fold thrust, namely; Instruction, Research, Extension Service and Production with emphasis in the field of agriculture, allied disciplines and technology education. To effectively comply these mandates, this faculty manual will be pursued with its legal basis and foundations that are anchored on the revised Policies on Performance Evaluation System enunciated under the CSC Resolution No. 991, 792, CSC MC No. 13, s. 1999, the Revised Rules and Regulations on Appointment of 2017, NBC 461 Guidelines and QCE Instrument, and R.A. 8291, the Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College, hereby make the faculty members more responsive to the changing time and in adopting more technology.
